Mjolisi is a South African Maskandi singer and songwriter born Malibongwe Prince Gwala on 1 May 2000 in Emzumbe, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He grew up surrounded by Zulu culture and became interested in traditional music early in life, developing his skills through school performances and acoustic sessions before pursuing music professionally.
Mjolisi began his career with his first official single, Usizi, in 2021, and steadily built a catalogue that highlighted his storytelling and musical depth. His breakthrough came in 2024 with hit songs like Umkami Sengalile and My Dululu, which earned millions of streams and brought him wide recognition in the Maskandi scene.
Known for blending traditional Zulu guitar rhythms with contemporary sounds, he has released several successful albums including Yimi Unompempe and Dear Nkulunkulu. Mjolisi is also educated, having graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and continues to influence young Maskandi fans with his heartfelt lyrics and vibrant performances.
