Juan Luis Morera Luna, professionally known as Wisin, is a Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer whose career has been closely associated with the international growth of reggaetón and Latin urban music. Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he developed an interest in music during his youth and began performing in the late 1990s. Before establishing himself as a full-time artist, he worked as a barber. His early musical activity included the group Boricua Selecta before he formed a partnership with Llandel Veguilla Malavé, known as Yandel. Wisin & Yandel released their first album, "Los Reyes del Nuevo Milenio," in 2000. Their subsequent recordings expanded their audience across Latin America and the United States, with "Mi Vida... My Life" (2003) marking their transition to Machete Music and "Pa'l Mundo" (2005) becoming their major commercial breakthrough. The duo followed with albums including "Los Extraterrestres" (2007), "La Revolución" (2009), and "Líderes" (2012), while establishing WY Records and the Los Vaqueros collective. Their achievements included a Grammy Award and two Latin Grammy Awards, alongside numerous Billboard, Premio Lo Nuestro, and other industry honors. Alongside his work with Yandel, Wisin established a solo catalogue with "El Sobreviviente" in 2004. The album introduced his independent artistic identity and reached the U.S. Top Latin Albums chart. He returned with "El Regreso del Sobreviviente" (2014), followed by "Los Vaqueros: La Trilogía" (2015) and "Victory" (2017), the latter projects extending his reach through collaborations with major Latin and international artists. Wisin later reunited with Yandel for "Los Campeones del Pueblo / The Big Leagues" (2019). His subsequent catalogue includes "Los Legendarios 001" (2021), "Multimillo, Vol. 1" (2022), "Mr. W" (2024), and "El Sobreviviente WWW" (2025). His career combines recording, songwriting, production, label development, and international collaboration, establishing Juan Luis Morera Luna as a significant contributor to reggaetón's evolution from a Puerto Rican movement into a global Latin music genre.
