Journey
Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, professionally known as Badshah, is an Indian rapper, songwriter, singer, and music producer born in New Delhi, India. Raised in Delhi, he grew up in a culturally diverse household; his mother is Punjabi and his father is Haryanvi. That dual heritage became a defining part of his artistic identity and continues to shape his work across Hindi, Punjabi, Haryanvi, and English. Before becoming a full-time musician, he studied in Chandigarh and developed a deep interest in hip-hop, Punjabi music, and contemporary popular culture.
Badshah began his professional journey in the mid-2000s as a member of the hip-hop collective Mafia Mundeer, working alongside artists such as Yo Yo Honey Singh and Raftaar. His early recognition came with "Saturday Saturday," released in 2012 and later featured in the 2014 Bollywood film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The song introduced him to a nationwide audience and marked the beginning of his rise as a mainstream recording artist.
From 2014 onward, Badshah established himself as one of India's most commercially successful music figures. His catalogue includes major releases such as "DJ Waley Babu," "Mercy," "Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai," "Kala Chashma," "Paani Paani," "Paani Paani (Pressure Pump Mix)," "Kokaina," "Morni X Adaludan Paadalai," and "Leke Pehla Pehla Pyaar X Baawla." He has released music through labels including Saregama India Ltd., Kalamkaar Music Pvt. Ltd., and Times Music, while also maintaining an independent creative presence.
A defining aspect of Badshah's career is his collaborative reach. He has worked with Aastha Gill, Diljit Dosanjh, Gippy Grewal, Navv Inder, Karan Aujla, Arijit Singh, J Balvin, and Tainy, connecting Indian hip-hop with Punjabi pop, Bollywood music, and international Latin and urban music scenes. In 2016, he received the Punjabi Music Award for Best Music Director for a Single for "Wakhra Swag," recognising his achievements as both a producer and songwriter.
Beyond chart success, Badshah has become a prominent public figure through television appearances, live performances, and digital platforms. His music combines rap, melody, and contemporary production while remaining closely connected to North Indian cultural references. With an active career extending into 2026, he remains one of the central figures in modern Indian hip-hop and popular music, continuing to influence both mainstream audiences and emerging artists across India and the global South Asian diaspora.
