Sivakarthikeyan Doss, popularly known as Sivakarthikeyan, is an Indian actor, playback singer, lyricist, television presenter, and film producer associated primarily with Tamil cinema. Born in Piranmalai, Sivagangai district, Tamil Nadu, he was raised in a middle-class Tamil family and later moved to Chennai. He completed a degree in Computer Science Engineering from J. J. College of Engineering and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, where his interest in stage performance, mimicry, and public entertainment became increasingly prominent. His public career began in 2005 when he participated in the Tamil television comedy competition “Kalakka Povadhu Yaaru.” Winning the show introduced him to a wide audience and established him as a promising entertainer. He subsequently worked as a television host and received the Vikatan Award for Best Anchor in 2011, a recognition that strengthened his position within Tamil media before he transitioned to cinema. Sivakarthikeyan made his film debut in “Marina” (2012) and quickly rose to prominence through successful films such as “Ethir Neechal,” “Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam,” “Rajini Murugan,” “Remo,” “Velaikkaran,” “Doctor,” “Don,” “Maaveeran,” and “Ayalaan.” Alongside acting, he developed a significant musical profile as a playback singer and lyricist, contributing songs to many of his own films as well as other Tamil productions. His music releases, issued through Saregama and Saregama India Ltd, include “Thaai Kizhavi Vaaraa,” “Vannarapettayila,” “Venum Macha Peace,” “Climax Fight Theme,” “Vaayadi Petha Pulla,” “Chellamma,” “Arabic Kuthu,” and “Jalabulajangu.” These recordings demonstrate his continued involvement in Tamil film music and contemporary Indian pop-oriented soundtracks. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading composers and artists including Anirudh Ravichander, Nivas K Prasanna, Dhibu Ninan Thomas, Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Shankar, Bharath Sankar, Yugabharathi, and others, reflecting a broad collaborative network within Tamil cinema. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, the Government of Tamil Nadu honored him with the Kalaimamani Award in 2020. He has also received numerous film and entertainment awards for acting, hosting, and musical work.
