Journey

Christian Bahizi, who performs as Chris Bahizi, is a Congolese singer-songwriter whose influence extends across East Africa from his Kampala base. Known as 'The Singing Poet,' Bahizi combines R&B with Afro-soul, infused with Congolese rhythms and rich storytelling. His work bridges cultural and linguistic divides, expressed through Swahili, French, Lingala, and English. This multilingual capability not only narrates his intricate personal and cultural saga but also forges connections with diverse audiences. His journey began with a musical awakening at home, led by his father’s collection of Congolese sounds. Taking those roots with him, Bahizi explored his voice further within church hymns and later at poetic venues like the Poetry Association of Uganda. These spaces honed his lyrical and musical skills, leading to the 2023 release of his debut album, 'Asubuhi'. The album traverses intimate themes such as love, identity, and faith, with tracks like 'Lala' and 'My Nationality'. Celebrated for his captivating live performances, he has featured at Sofar Kampala and the Bayimba International Festival, marking his place in the East African music landscape.
