Journey
Wazih Nji Cho, celebrated in the global music scene as WAZIH, is a multifaceted Cameroonian Afro-fusion artist whose roots trace back to Bamenda, North-West Cameroon. With an early start in music through church choirs, WAZIH quickly displayed his prodigious talent, eventually serving as the choir leader at the Full Gospel Redeem Church of God from 2009 to 2011. This formative experience fostered his profound abilities in songwriting, multi-instrumental performance, and musical production. A co-founder of the Ablaze Singers, WAZIH embarked on a solo journey that has left a lasting impact on the Afro-fusion genre. His debut album 'Right Perspective' (2016) topped international world music charts spanning Cameroon, France, and Canada, a testament to his resonant blend of soukous, soul, and afrobeats. The album's success was mirrored by singles like 'Be Happy', 'I Will Find You', and 'Anotic', earning him coveted AFRIMA nominations. WAZIH's performances, marked by a vibrant fusion of contemporary jazz, Afrobeat, and Afro-Cuban influences, resonate deeply across diverse audiences. Notably, his linguistic versatility allows him to engage audiences in four languages, a skill showcased at major events such as the Mangroov Festival and the World Youth Forum, where he performed before global leaders. WAZIH's dynamic artistic vision continues to shape Cameroon’s modern musical landscape with its cultural authenticity and global appeal.
