Journey
Long before her name reached the charts, a teenager in Benin City was already writing and singing in church pews and on school grounds. That teenager, Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, now known as Qing Madi, has since become one of Nigeria’s most distinctive young artists. Born on July 1, 2006 and the youngest of four, she first found an audience in choirs and small local shows, quietly refining the skill that would later propel her career.
Her first breakthrough came in 2022 with “See Finish,” a track that spread rapidly online and introduced a voice anchored in honesty. In 2023 she followed up with “Ole” featuring BNXN and sealed her arrival with a self-titled EP. Released in November that year, the seven-track collection mixed Afropop with R&B and soul accents, offering songs like “Vision,” “Chargie” and “American Love,” intimate yet assured pieces that revealed a growing range.
Recognition soon followed. Spotify named her an Equal Africa Ambassador, Billboard listed her among its “21 Under 21,” Apple Music added her to its Rising Class of 2024, and VEVO DSCVR picked her as one to watch. These nods confirmed what her supporters already sensed: her music carried both originality and depth.
In January 2025, Qing Madi unveiled her first full-length album "I Am the Blueprint." Across thirteen tracks she explored love, identity and self-definition, positioning herself as more than an emerging talent but an artist intent on shaping a lasting mark. That same year she earned The Headies’ Songwriter of the Year award for “Vision,” cementing her place among Nigeria’s most promising names.
At nineteen, Qing Madi continues to write and sing with a rare mix of youthful sincerity and worldwide ambition.
