Orlando Julius, Born Orlando Julius Ekemode, was a Nigerian saxophonist, vocalist, bandleader, and songwriter who is widely connected to afrobeat music.
With juju and konkoma bands, Julius began his career with drums and flute.
He later learned the saxophone and began playing highlife music.
He started his own band, The Afro Sounders, and released several albums and singles.
Orlando passed away on April 14, 2022 though his contributions to the development of Afrobeat (a fusion of African and Western musical genres) remains.
