Blessed with a husky, modern, and exceptionally generous voice, her signature style seamlessly bridges the rich traditions of Afro-diasporic island folklore with a sleek, cosmopolitan sensibility.
Before establishing her solo career, Solidade spent years developing her impeccable performance skills behind the scenes. Her exceptional ear for melody made her a highly sought-after artist in elite world music circles, where she provided sophisticated backing vocals for legendary artists such as Tito Paris, Ildo Lobo, Nancy Vieira, and Mayra Andrade.
Ultimately, it was within the intimate, high-energy live clubs of Cape Verde that she truly forged her independent identity. She successfully commanded global attention in late 2013 after releasing a stylish music video showcasing a highly original, sultry interpretation of the classic hit "Hit the Road Jack."
This viral breakthrough paved the way for her award-winning debut solo studio album, Um Click ("One Click"), released via the Lusafrica label.
