Juan de Guillebon, better known as DyE, is a French electronic musician, composer, producer, and visual artist whose work combines synth-driven electronic music with elements of alternative rock, new wave, disco, and experimental pop. Emerging from France's independent electronic music movement in the late 2000s, he became associated with the Paris-based Tigersushi label, a company recognized for introducing forward-thinking electronic artists to international audiences. DyE first gained attention with the "Imperator" EP in 2009, establishing a style built around analog synthesizers, cinematic arrangements, and nostalgic influences from the 1980s. His international breakthrough arrived in 2011 with the release of his debut album, "Taki 183." The album featured the single "Fantasy," whose animated music video, directed by Jérémie Périn, became an internet phenomenon. The graphic horror-themed animation contrasted sharply with the song's melodic electropop production, attracting tens of millions of views and introducing DyE to a worldwide audience beyond the electronic music community. Rather than repeating that success, DyE expanded his artistic direction with "Cocktail Citron" (2014), incorporating funk, psychedelic textures, and French pop influences while maintaining his signature electronic foundation. He continued evolving with "Inside Out" (2018), an album that balanced dance-oriented rhythms with introspective songwriting and collaborations featuring guest vocalists. His releases demonstrate an interest in combining club music with carefully crafted song structures instead of focusing solely on dancefloor production. Following the "Emo Machine" EP in 2017, DyE remained active through singles, remixes, collaborations, and live performances across Europe. His more recent projects include "MySpace" (2024), followed by "Voodoo Talk," "believe," and "x drama" in 2025, reflecting his continued experimentation with contemporary electronic production while retaining the melodic character that defines his catalogue. Beyond recording, DyE has built a reputation for integrating music with visual storytelling. His releases frequently feature distinctive artwork and conceptual videos, reinforcing a multidisciplinary creative identity. While "Fantasy" remains his most recognizable work, his broader discography highlights a consistent commitment to artistic evolution rather than commercial trends.
