Journey

Aloysius Migadde stands as a visionary in Uganda’s vibrant music scene, using the guitar to echo the rich soundscape of traditional African instruments. Born into a musical family, Migadde discovered his calling in high school, transitioning from choir performances to participating in brass and jazz bands. His academic pursuit of a Bachelor’s in Music provided him a solid foundation in the creative arts, shaping his approach to the guitar as an interpreter of indigenous sounds. Aloysius has performed at distinguished events such as Jazz Safari, Nyegenyege, Fête de la Musique, and Bayimba, showcasing his unique knack for intertwining contemporary music with cultural heritage. His 2019 album, 'Bakisimba,' is an epitome of this fusion, featuring the guitar mimicking the Ndingidi, a traditional tube fiddle. The subsequent album, 'Eka Ewaffe,' released in 2020, continued to explore this rich blend of genres including kizomba, jazz, and marabi, positioning Migadde’s music at the intersection of traditional and modern African sounds. Collaborations with bands like Black Roots Unlimited and Tropical Noyz further highlight his commitment to innovative music-making rooted in Ugandan culture.
