Akuvi, born Beatrice Akuvi Hosen Kumordzie, is a singer, songwriter, and voice over talent whose creative identity draws from two distinct cultural worlds. She was born in Asker, Norway, into a musical family. Her father is Ghanaian musician Kofi Kumoji, while her older sister, Anna-Lisa Kumoji, is an actress and singer. Growing up between Norwegian and Ghanaian cultures exposed her to diverse musical traditions from an early age. She carries roots in the Volta Region of Ghana and the northern parts of Norway, a dual heritage that informs the emotional texture she brings to her work across neo-soul, afrobeats, and R&B. Active since 2021 and operating under Iskald Sound, Akuvi has steadily positioned herself as a boundary-crossing artist with a growing international footprint. Akuvi earned a Bachelor's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Oslo New University College before completing a Master's degree in Social Science, specializing in Political Science and the Sociology of Religion, at the University of Cape Town. While studying in South Africa, she began collaborating with local musicians and developing her artistic identity. Her rise gained early visibility when she reached the finals of MGP, the Norwegian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, in 2020. Since then her recorded output has grown to include the singles "All the Same," "Burn," "Stuck," "No Words," and "The Other Side". Her collaboration with Ghanaian reggae and dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy proved to be a commercial and cultural milestone, the single surpassed 500,000 streams within its first week of release. That momentum brought her to the attention of major music publications, earning her profiles in both Billboard Africa and GQ Africa, where she was recognized as part of a new generation reshaping contemporary African sound. She served as the Norwegian voice of Dolores in Disney's Encanto, the animated feature that took home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, and voiced Karma in Karma's World, Ludacris' animated Netflix series.
