In this episode of the Legally Clueless podcast, we begin Part 1 of Dr. Kui Muraya’s story. Kui takes us through her childhood growing up between Nairobi and Mombasa, being raised by multiple mother figures, and the powerful lineage of women who shaped her storytelling voice. She shares what it was like to grow up as a “different” child outspoken, curious, and deeply aware of injustice and how those traits both set her apart and got her into trouble. From being top of her class to being punished for speaking up in school, this episode explores the early experiences that shaped her relationship with her voice. It’s a story about identity, belonging, and the subtle ways the world teaches us to shrink ourselves.
