Show notes

In 1965 Kenya's government designed a pineapple business with two halves: a foreign company's estate and factory, and smallholders around them selling in. Within a few years the smallholder half had failed, on the government's side of the ledger, and the estate became the whole company. This is that estate: what it has made, who it belongs to, and what holding its edge has cost the people outside it.
