Balancing the warmth of highlife with the intimacy of contemporary R&B, Gyakie has established herself as one of the most compelling voices in modern African music.
Performing under the name Gyakie, Jackline Acheampong was born in Kumasi, Ghana, to legendary highlife musician Nana Acheampong. Raised in a musically inclined family, she developed an early appreciation for songwriting and performance before studying International Business at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). She launched her recording career with the EP Seed (2020), but it was the breakout single "Forever" and its remix featuring Omah Lay that propelled her to international recognition. Working through Flip The Music in partnership with RCA Records UK and Sony Music Africa, she expanded her catalog with the EP My Diary (2022) and her debut studio album After Midnight (2024), alongside acclaimed songs including "Need Me," "Something," "Rent Free," "December," "Whine," and "Scar."
Throughout her career, Gyakie has collaborated with artists including Omah Lay, Davido, Bisa Kdei, Chike, Young Jonn, 6LACK, Headie One, Omar Sterling, Kojey Radical, Major League DJz, Diplo, and Kelvin Momo, reflecting her versatility across Afrobeats, amapiano, R&B, Afro-fusion, and highlife. Her achievements include the 3Music Award for Emerging Woman of the Year (2021), the 3Music Award for Woman of the Year (2022), and nominations at the BET Awards, MOBO Awards, and AFRIMA.
Through emotionally resonant songwriting, graceful vocals, and an evolving, genre-blending style, Gyakie continues to elevate Ghanaian music on the international stage while establishing herself as one of Africa's most influential singer-songwriters of her generation.
