Journey

Moses "Supercharger" Nsubuga stands as a powerful voice in Ugandan music and HIV advocacy. Born amidst cultural tapestries that inspire his rich blend of dancehall, genge, and soukous, Nsubuga's artistry reaches deep into the heart of contemporary Ugandan soundscapes. After a life-changing HIV diagnosis in 1994, Moses' journey from denial to advocacy has been one of resilience and transformation. His health struggles led him to TASO in 1998, reinvigorating his career and earning him the 'Supercharger' moniker for his revitalized energy and dedication. Financial challenges once disrupted his treatment, but subsequent access to second-line antiretrovirals allowed him to champion consistent therapy. Venturing beyond music, he founded the Stigma-less Band and co-leads PINA, providing peer support and mentorship to young Ugandans living with HIV. His advocacy extends to chairing community boards and participating in international research groups such as ACTG and INSIGHT, influencing access to viral load testing and third-line therapy. Through each beat and every note, Nsubuga continues to break barriers, delivering empowerment and awareness in equal measure.
