Journey
Kespan Maxwell Gimba is more than a gospel artist; he is an innovator and cultural custodian. Born in Bauchi State, Nigeria, his journey into music began at six when he wrote a song dedicated to his dog, a gesture that foreshadowed his lifelong devotion to music. By 1999, his talents propelled him into songwriting professionally. Kespan's debut single "You Are Worthy" came in 2002, soon followed by his first album, "Ka Isa Yabo," in 2003, marking the start of a career defined by both spiritual and musical innovation.
In 2004, Kespan invented the Suldo, an instrument combining the traditional sonic qualities of stick, calabash, animal skin, and strings. This invention highlights his commitment to blending cultural heritage with contemporary sounds. His discography, featuring about five albums, displays a distinctive blend of soul, alte, trap, afrobeats, and bongoflava, fully encapsulating his experimental essence.
Kespan's visionary streak continued with establishing Yaron Zaki Studios in 2019, where he produces and hones his genre-crossing style, J'RACBS. Rooted deeply in Christian themes, his work resonates across cultural boundaries, making him a compelling voice in gospel music worldwide.
