Journey

Evi Edna Ogholi, born July 6, 1970, in Isoko, Delta State, Nigeria, is a seminal figure in the African reggae scene. Known affectionately as Nigeria's Queen of Reggae, Evi burst onto the scene with her 1987 debut album "My Kind of Music," which birthed the cultural mainstay "Happy Birthday," along with other tracks like "Oghene Me" and "Look Before You Cross." Her unique blend of reggae with elements of mbaqanga and other African genres distinguishes her sound. Evi's personal and professional journey includes a significant partnership with her former husband and producer, Emma Ogosi. After a period away from the limelight, she announced a comeback during interviews with BBC Pidgin and Splash 105.5 FM. Evi's impact extends beyond music; in 2020, she took on the role of brand ambassador for Hope and Peace, aiding the charity's efforts in Nigeria and Ireland. Now living in Paris, Evi Edna Ogholi's artistic influence and humanitarian efforts continue to resonate across continents.
