Journey

Dr Propa, born Johnholl Arinaibye, stands as a testament to resilience and perseverance within the Ugandan music scene. His life, shadowed by the loss of his mother at birth and raised without familial connections, laid the foundation for a story of triumph through determination. By the early 2000s, he emerged onto the music scene, captivating audiences with a distinctive blend of Afrobeat, gospel, and ragga, while incorporating styles such as soukous, genge, rap, gbema, and dancehall into his repertoire. His early hardships are mirrored in the raw and authentic narratives of his songs like 'Mimbye', 'Ngenda Kuvubiika', and 'Omwana W’omwavu', which weave tales of daily struggles and victories. As his influence grew, Dr Propa's music was acknowledged by platforms such as the Kisima Music Awards. Despite not being driven by accolades, such recognition underscored his impact. Today, Dr Propa's evocative music continues to be a platform for emotional expression and cultural connection, offering a voice of strength and hope for listeners across Uganda and beyond.
