Journey
David Adedeji Adeleke, known globally as Davido, is a Nigerian artist whose music has reshaped the sound of Afrobeats. Born in the US, but grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up in a well-known family, he could have followed a more traditional path, but his passion for music led him in a different direction. While studying abroad, Davido began making beats and recording songs, setting the foundation for a career that would soon reach far beyond Nigeria.
His big break came in 2011 with “Dami Duro”, a single that introduced his lively voice and energetic rhythms to listeners across the country. From that moment, his career gained momentum, and he quickly became one of the leading names in the new wave of African music. Over the years, Davido has released several albums, including Omo Baba Olowo (2012), A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), Timeless (2023), and 5ive (2025). Each project reflects his growth as an artist and his ability to connect with fans through both dance-floor anthems and heartfelt songs.
Tracks like “If”, “Fall”, and “Unavailable” have not only dominated airwaves at home but also gained massive international appeal, helping to bring Afrobeats into mainstream global conversations.
Beyond his personal success, Davido has shown commitment to developing new talent through his label, DMW (Davido Music Worldwide), where he provides a platform for upcoming artists. His stage presence, full of energy and charisma, has made him a favorite at concerts and festivals around the world.
Despite personal challenges, including moments of loss, Davido has continued to inspire millions with his resilience, generosity, and music. Today, he stands as one of Africa’s most important cultural voices, bridging local roots with global influence
