When Mansa Musa returned from his 1324 hajj, he brought back more than gold and fame—he brought architects. This episode follows the Sudanese poet-architect Abu Ishaq al-Sahili, who designed the Djinguereber mosque in Timbuktu and transformed Mali's urban landscape.
