Australia’s jobs market continues to defy expectations, with more than 76,000 jobs created in the latest month as the unemployment rate held at 4.4 per cent and workforce participation climbed to its highest level in a year. SBS Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves speaks with Faraz Syed, Senior Economist at Citi Australia, about what the strong labour market means for the outlook for interest rates. Plus, Ben Clark from TMS Private Wealth unpacks a mixed day on the ASX, where gains in materials and energy helped lift the market despite weakness in technology and healthcare following the jobs data.
