Join us for an insightful episode with entrepreneur Tamirat Abera, as he shares his innovative solution for solving transportation problems (Yegara Transport / የጋራ ትራንስፖርት). Drawing from his experience competing in Ethiopia's television entrepreneur competition, known as ነጋድራስ የሥራ ፈጠራ ውድድር and achieving 3rd place, he offers valuable insights into his journey and success in developing a solution that has the potential to make a positive impact on transportation problem for communities living in the same area.
During our conversation, we also delved into Tamirat's other business ventures, including his previous attempt at delivering tenders and documents. Inspired by personal experiences and the desire to solve this problem for others, he purchased motorcycles and hired delivery personnel to facilitate the business. However, despite their efforts, the venture faced several challenges and ultimately did not succeed. One of the main obstacles was the preference of most people to interact face-to-face when purchasing tenders, as it created familiarity with the tender announcing body.
Additionally, we explored the topic of micro-financing / ማይክሮ ፋይናንስ and its role in supporting the growth of small to medium-sized businesses. We took a deep dive into the origins of micro-financing, its purpose, and how it can be beneficial for a developing economy like Ethiopia.
