Journey
Beatsbyhand is the stage name of South African DJ and electronic music producer Hein Bosman, a Port Elizabeth–born artist known for his bass-heavy fusion of afro house, deep house, and melodic electronic textures. Initially performing under the alias Advent, he built early recognition in South Africa’s bass-house circuit before evolving into Beatsbyhand to explore a more expressive, mid-tempo, and soulful sound identity.
His musical foundation was shaped early through seven years of playing multiple instruments in a church band, which developed his understanding of harmony, rhythm, and arrangement. He later began producing at around age 18 after being introduced to FL Studio by a close friend, using digital production to translate his ideas into layered electronic compositions.
The Beatsbyhand project emerged as a creative shift following his success as Advent, driven by a desire to experiment with deeper, more emotive house music. His sound is characterized by warm basslines, hypnotic percussion, soulful vocal sampling, and African-influenced rhythmic structures, often blending elements of 3-step, afro-tech, and jazz-infused house.
He has released music across respected platforms and labels within the South African electronic scene, including Stay True Sounds and Soul Candi Records. Notable releases include "I Am Jazz" in 2022, along with widely recognized tracks such as “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” featuring Kali Mija, “King of My Castle,” “Say Yes,” and “Are You Jazz?” His remix-driven approach has also helped his reinterpretations gain traction in club and streaming spaces.
Beatsbyhand has built a growing international audience, supported by DJs and selectors within the global house community, and is recognized for translating African-rooted rhythm into modern electronic dancefloor compositions.
