Journey
Game Goabaone Bantsi, known under the stage moniker Zeus, is a prominent Botswana hip-hop artist and entrepreneur. Born on July 22, 1986, in Serowe, Zeus grew up in Gaborone and balanced his love for music with his studies, successfully graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management from Monash University South Africa. He rose to continental prominence as a versatile Motswako lyricist who raps fluently in both English and Setswana.
Zeus achieved his mainstream musical breakthrough with his 2008 debut studio album, "Freshly Baked." The highly successful project spawned the definitive street anthem "Gijima," which won the coveted Best Hip Hop Video award at the 2009 Channel O Music Video Awards. He followed this up with acclaimed projects like "The Flipside" and "African Time." His evolving sound has resulted in highly popular singles, most notably the 2018 hit "Bebeto" and the follow-up track "Gotta Get Mine." Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major South African music stars including AKA and the late HHP.
In 2011, Zeus dramatically expanded his pan-African fan base by participating in the reality television series Big Brother Africa: Amplified, which introduced him to millions of viewers. Outside of the studio, he is an active businessman running his own entertainment company, D.I.Y Entertainment. Zeus routinely uses his platform for social advocacy, dedicating his time to youth empowerment initiatives and partnering with global non-profit organizations like Childline Botswana and Oxfam International.
