Yves/ Eves Manxeba, born Yvonne Vuyolethu Manxeba in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, is a South African singer and recording artist whose early foundation came through church singing and community performance spaces where discipline in harmony and structured singing shaped her early direction. She later refined her craft at the National School of the Arts, where formal training strengthened her performance technique and studio work, moving her from raw expression into a more developed recording approach.
Her first national exposure came through Idols South Africa, where she advanced into the later stages of the competition, opening the door to professional studio collaborations and positioning her within South Africa’s Afro-soul and house production circuit.
Her recording work sits between Afro-soul expression and deep house-influenced production, with a focus on emotional storytelling, restrained arrangement, and strong grounding in Xhosa expression. She has appeared on and released several projects, including “Inyani” (2022), “Uyajola” (2022), “Buyela Embo” (2022), “Ukukhanya” featuring May Jack, “Emoyeni” with Magistics and Snaka (2024), and “Livumile” featuring DJ Kabila. These projects connected her closely to Open Mic Productions related collaborative work structures, where feature-driven releases are common.
Her studio network includes work with KSoul, Mjakes Thebe, Master KG, Kususa, Artwork Sounds, and other producers across collaborative sessions. She also appears within the Chymamusique-linked collaborative space, including credits under her legal name on projects such as “Follow (Chyma’s Rendition)” alongside Kent Smoke and Chymamusique, reflecting her role in rotating studio collaborations rather than fixed group membership.
Her recognition includes a SATMA Award win for Best Afro Soul Song for “Ukukhanya” in 2023, alongside nominations for Newcomer of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards in 2023, and additional nominations connected to “Ukukhanya” in song and genre categories.
