From Soweto’s deep house circuit comes a performer whose path has been built through live stages, studio collaborations, and steady appearances across electronic music projects.
Tshidi, born Vivian Matshidiso Phadi in Dobsonville, Soweto, is a South African vocalist and songwriter active within deep house and related electronic music spaces. She studied Music Performance at South West Gauteng College, developing her craft through structured training alongside consistent live performance work.
A key early moment in her journey came in 2012 when she appeared on stage at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, performing alongside jazz guitarist Earl Klugh. That appearance helped establish her as a live performer with strong stage presence. Her recording career began gaining traction around 2016, when she featured on projects such as “Voice Mail (feat. Tshidi),” marking her entry into club-focused production environments.
She later connected with Gentle Soul Recordings through DJ Sonic, becoming one of the label’s early female signings after her single “Joy” drew attention. Within the deep house space, she has also been linked to collaborative studio work with producers such as NasteeNev and Kkester, contributing to feature-based releases rather than operating as a standalone mainstream act.
