Journey
Born and bred in Diepkloof, Soweto, South Africa, Tsiliso Tokoloho Molokoli, known to fans as Tman Xpress, has carved out his place in the Amapiano and electronic music scene. Although his exact birth date wasn’t public for years, recent reports indicate he was born on April 19, 1994, making him 31 years old as of 2025.
Raised by Mr. and Mrs. Molokoli, Tman Xpress didn’t publicly share much about siblings or his parents, aside from revealing his deep appreciation for his mother’s support. His passion for music was sparked in high school, where he began experimenting with sounds alongside his friend Michael “Demented Soul” Molemane.
Initially drawn to Afro neo-soul, Tman Xpress first nurtured dreams of a football career that faded with time. His neighbor noticed his singing in the shower and encouraged him to take music seriously. By 2009, when he was still in high school, he was already pursuing music full-time. Although he toyed with genres like Afro-tech and electronic house, his true breakthrough began with Amapiano around 2018—sparked by the success of De Mthuda’s “Shesha Geza." The viral hit "Uyaz’dala" thrust him into the spotlight in his township. In 2019, Tman Xpress released his debut EP, "One For The Yanos," featuring the memorable track “Heineken” with Killer Kau, a defining moment that anchored his presence in Amapiano. Since then, he’s consistently released music, from the EP "Comofyder" and album "Ikigai" (2021) to "Umdanso Wenyanga" (2023) and "Ikigai (The Second Samurai)" in 2024.
Tman Xpress’s breakthrough came through his high-emotion, melodic approach to Amapiano, a genre with deep piano grooves. He brought evocative, township-rooted storytelling to the genre, distinctly infusing a spiritual and ancestral sensibility into his music.
Collaboration is at the heart of Tman Xpress’s career. He has worked with giants such as DJ Jaivane, Mellow & Sleazy, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small, Heavy K, Yanga Chief, Killer Kau, and more. His standout tracks include “Kwelinye”, “Amasango”, “Injabulo”, “Inkonzo”, “Imali iKhona”, and “iMnandi Lento," songs that have resonated widely in South Africa and beyond.
Tman Xpress is known for his exceptional hustle. He creates music daily, often “seven to ten songs a week,” polishing them over time. He left a 9-to-5 job to pursue music full-time and remains deeply grounded in his roots, dedicating his 2025 album “Midnight In Diepkloof” project to his hometown.
In 2024, he released Ikigai (The Second Samurai), a spiritually-driven album whose title reflects the Japanese concept of one’s “purpose for being.” Tracks like “Indlela” (featuring Kabza De Small) and “Landela” (with Maphorisa & Xduppy) explore themes of faith, legacy, ancestral reverence, and self-discovery.
