Journey
The name Thuto The Human started circulating long before awards and headlines followed. From Ga-Rankuwa in Pretoria, Thuto Moloi built his foundation quietly, learning rhythm, repetition, and control through house, Bacardi, and early Amapiano influences around him. He began making music around 2018, sharing mixes online and refining a sound shaped by movement and local dance floors, while keeping his personal life firmly out of public view.
Everything shifted in early 2023 when he entered the Rémy Martin Producers Season 2 competition. Judged by Major League DJz and Gaba Cannal, the contest required producers to present a set rooted in their hometown identity. Thuto’s all-Amapiano submission stood out and earned him the win, a moment he later described as a strategic step to get his name recognised. The victory led to international opportunities, including performances in Dubai and Amsterdam, and marked his arrival on a wider stage.
With momentum on his side, Thuto continued releasing music consistently. His earlier album Bozza Ye Sgubu from 2021 laid the groundwork, followed by I Am Not Human in 2024, which expanded his catalogue and collaborations. Songs like “Ke Dipatje” with Mellow and Sleazy, “Dollar For Love (Baby)”, and “Monday Boys Holiday” with DJ Maphorisa helped solidify his presence, alongside work with Kukzer Wadi Piano, Jay Music, KMAT, and DJ CNDO.
His sound draws from Bacardi and sgija traditions, driven by firm percussion, log drums, and bass patterns associated with Pretoria’s movement-focused dance culture. Recognised by DJ Mag as an emerging name to watch, Thuto The Human continues to grow with discipline, consistency, and a clear focus on the music itself.
