Journey
Ten consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the South African YouTube Weekly Artists Chart placed Thukuthela among the country’s most closely watched dance music voices in 2025, surpassing DJ Maphorisa during the same run. The achievement, alongside recognition with collaborator Jazzwrld as one of South Africa’s leading artists of the year and a feature as an Apple Music Isgubhu cover artist, marked a breakthrough moment for the Afro-house and 3-Step performer.
Born Kgotso Xolani Dube in Daveyton and eTwatwa, South Africa, Thukuthela grew up surrounded by the sounds of township life. Street rhythms, local gatherings, and traditional musical influences shaped his early instincts as a performer. Those formative experiences led him to refine his vocal style and songwriting through mentorship and steady participation in the country’s evolving dance music scene.
His professional career began through a creative partnership with Jazzwrld, where they developed a sound rooted in Afro-house while drawing from Amapiano and 3-Step textures. Early releases such as “uValo,” “Isaka (6 am),” and “Uzizwa Kanjani” introduced his vocal presence to dance audiences and positioned him within South Africa’s rising electronic movement.
His momentum accelerated in 2025 with the single “Bendicela,” recorded alongside MaWhoo, GL_Ceejay, and Jazzwrld. The track gained wide traction across streaming platforms and national charts, reinforcing his growing influence. Beyond his own releases, Thukuthela has expanded his reach through collaborations with artists including Oscar Mbo and Ciza.
He continues to record new material, develop EP projects with Jazzwrld, and perform at major events such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, building a catalog that reflects the evolving energy of South Africa’s dance music landscape.
