Thokozani Langa (born 9 February 1972) is a prominent South African Maskandi artist widely known by his nicknames Somnandi and Somdelicious. He was born in Mahlabathini in the Ulundi region of KwaZulu-Natal, where he was raised in a traditional Zulu household shaped by strong cultural values and church life.
His journey into music began in 1994 when his uncle, Musa Shabalala, recognised his talent and encouraged him to pursue singing. Shabalala went on to produce his debut album, laying the foundation for his career. He later received further guidance from Phathaphatha Ngcobo, whose mentorship helped refine his sound and deepen his roots in Maskandi tradition.
Langa’s professional breakthrough came after signing with Bula Music in the mid-2000s, a period that established him as one of the most consistent voices in the genre. His music reflects everyday life, relationships, and cultural identity, delivered through a style that stays true to traditional Maskandi while adapting to modern influences.
