Tandra Zawadi, also written as Tantra-zawadi, is a Brooklyn-based poet, spoken-word artist, musician, educator, and multidisciplinary performer whose body of work stretches across poetry, music, theatre, cultural activism, and community storytelling. Her artistic direction first took shape within spoken-word environments, where performance became both creative expression and social commentary, later expanding into international appearances throughout the United States, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Her performances have reached literary festivals, museums, theatres, and cultural institutions, including the Badilisha Poetry X-Change Festival in Cape Town, the New York City Poetry Festival, the American Museum of Natural History, and Dakar’s Daniel Sorano National Theatre through the Senegal-America Project. These appearances helped establish her presence within global poetry and interdisciplinary art spaces rooted in dialogue, heritage, and performance.
Alongside live appearances, she has published collections including "alifepoeminprogress," "Gathered at Her Sky," and "Bubbles: One Conscious Breath." Her written work frequently explores identity, healing, womanhood, spirituality, Black cultural memory, and social reflection, carrying the same thoughtful intensity present in her performances.
