Tshidiso Mapulane, professionally known as TO Starquality, is a South African singer, songwriter, bassist, and producer whose work spans Amapiano and Afro-soul. His passion for music emerged while studying at the University of the Witwatersrand, where jazz became a key influence on his artistic approach.
Mapulane gained early professional experience as a bassist with the Moses Molelekwa Arts Foundation, performing across South Africa alongside artists such as Malaika, Simphiwe Dana, and Judith Sephuma. These formative experiences honed his skills in live performance, studio recording, and music production.
He later became active in the Amapiano scene, collaborating with prominent producers and vocalists, including DBN Gogo, Aymos, and Mas Musiq. His discography features solo tracks like “Ama Bhoza,” “Ndinothando,” “Buya,” “Ngihole,” “Faki Mali,” and “Ingane Yomuntu”, as well as collaborative releases such as “Amalanga.”
In 2023, he released the project Kwa Mchanga, highlighting tracks like “Kwa Mchanga,” “Ziyavuma,” and “Cairo.”
