Journey
TKZee is one of South Africa’s most influential kwaito groups, formed in 1996 by Zwai Bala, Kabelo Mabalane, and the late Tokollo Tshabalala. The trio met while attending school in Johannesburg and shared a passion for music.
Early hits like "Phalafala" (1997) and "Shibobo" (1998) broke sales records, while their debut album "Halloween" (1998) went Platinum, earning four South African Music Awards. TKZee maintained influence with albums like Trinity (2001) and Coming Home (2009), and performed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony. They helped shape South African urban music.
Over their career, TKZee has received multiple awards, including Lifetime Achievement honors at the SAMAs (2019) and Metro FM Music Awards (2025), solidifying their status as pioneers of the kwaito era.
