Swiss, born Sioeli Sanipepa Manu, is a New Zealand singer, songwriter, producer, and recording artist of Tongan heritage whose work spans reggae, R&B, soul, pop, and Polynesian contemporary music. Born in Wellington and raised in Upper Hutt, he developed his musical foundation through church singing, where he regularly performed with his family. Influenced by R&B artists including Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Usher, and Brian McKnight, he later embraced reggae through performers such as Fiji, J Boog, and Spawnbreezie, shaping a style that blends soulful melodies with Pacific Island musical traditions.
At the age of 13, Swiss relocated with his family to Australia. By the following year, he had begun writing, recording, and producing his own songs from a home studio, steadily building an online audience by releasing original music through YouTube. His independent breakthrough came in 2012 with the single "Slow Wind," which led to touring opportunities across Australia, New Zealand, and the United States after years of supporting established Pacific artists including Fiji and J Boog.
In 2012, Swiss signed with New Zealand's Dawn Raid Entertainment, releasing the EP "Mr. Slow Wind" followed by his debut album "Lucky Man" in 2013. Both projects reached the New Zealand Top 10 album charts and introduced audiences to his interpretations of classics alongside original compositions. Following his departure from Dawn Raid, he founded his own independent label, BLK Entertainment, in 2015. Working with producer DESAH, he released the EP "YOU," which reached the top positions on the New Zealand and Australian reggae album charts on iTunes.
Swiss continued expanding his catalogue through independent releases, including the "YESAH Wednesday Project," "Hitman," "2.0," "Rosera," and "SUMMAH NIGHTS" EPs. His discography features songs such as "She Don't Want Me Love," "Homebound," "IWantYou," "ONE4U," "Turnin Me On," "R.O.C," and "NO WAY." In addition to performing, he writes and produces much of his own material, maintaining creative control over his recordings through BLK Entertainment.
Throughout his career, Swiss has collaborated with artists from New Zealand and the Pacific music community while continuing to develop a catalogue that reflects his Tongan heritage and contemporary influence.
