Summer Walker was born as Summer Marjani Walker on April 11, 1996, in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. She spent her childhood in Atlanta and developed an interest in music from an early age. Before becoming famous, she ran a cleaning business between 2016 and 2018 and learned to play guitar on her own by watching instructional videos online. She later began posting singing performances and cover videos, gradually attracting attention for her distinctive voice and songwriting ability.
Her career took a major step forward when she was discovered by representatives of the Atlanta-based music company Love Renaissance (LVRN). In 2017, she signed a recording contract and began working professionally as a recording artist. Her debut mixtape, "Last Day of Summer," was released in 2018 and featured the breakout single "Girls Need Love," which later received a remix featuring Drake. The success of the project established her as one of R&B's rising stars.
In 2019, Summer released her debut studio album "Over It," which became a commercial and critical success. The album included popular songs such as "Playing Games," "Come Thru," "Body," and "Stretch You Out." In 2025, she released her third studio album, "Finally Over It."
