Jerome Frank Mgaya Mhina, widely known as Stoppa Rhymes (or Stopa The Rhymecca), is a foundational pillar of Tanzanian hip-hop. Hailing from Arusha, the city often called the "Geneva of Africa" for its vibrant rap culture, Stoppa emerged as a pioneer during the early evolution of Bongo Flava.
He gained prominence as a key member of the collective “Wa2ru2mbi Inc,” where he helped define the "Arusha style" a blend of gritty street lyricism and rhythmic flow. Unlike many commercial artists, Stoppa has maintained a reputation for lyrical consciousness and technical skill, earning him deep respect as an "old school" veteran.
