Journey
Pfarelo Daniel Ndou, professionally known as Short Gun or Shotgun, is a South African DJ and producer well-known in the Amapiano and Sgija scenes. Coming from Gauteng’s underground dance music circuit, he is recognized for high-energy log drums, intricate rhythms, and a street-infused Amapiano style.
One of his earliest musical memories involves making music with producers Busta929 and Mr JazziQ, an experience that shaped his approach to rhythm and collaboration. Formative projects such as the "IYNGUDLA" EP, "Amandla Wethu, Vol. 1," and "Let Em Cook, Vol. 1" have had a deep influence on him as a young artist.
Some of his key collaborations include “Oksalayo” with DJ Big Sky, BosPianii, Banele The DJ, and Lorenzo; and “Ngoqo” (2025) with Lorenzo and Steady K, a track he highlights as carrying his 2025 career momentum. He also features on Jazzman RSA’s “Shotgun” from Afro Piano V3 Part II (2025).
Notably, Shotgun frequently performs at major Amapiano hubs and appears in series like "A Day in 2nd Street," showcasing his creative process and connection to fans. While he looks forward to winning a Metro Award and a SAMA Award, some of his memorable moments include working with Busta929, JazziQ, King P, Mordecai, and BigSky, who have contributed to his reputation as a leading figure in the Amapiano genre.
