Rixaka Hlungwani, professionally known as ShakaMan YKTV, is a South African Amapiano producer and DJ from Soweto who was raised in the West Rand. He is widely recognized as the founder and driving force behind the Boots Movement, a distinct branch of Amapiano built around punchy “boots” drum textures layered over the bass-heavy foundations of Sgidongo and Sgija. His production style developed in the West Rand, where he refined a sound that balances percussive bounce with melodic depth.
ShakaMan YKTV rose to wider prominence through a steady stream of collaborative releases that resonated within South Africa’s groove culture. In 2024, he contributed to joint projects such as "New Age Kings" with Lowbass Djy and Ndibo Ndibs, "The Heads of State" with Da Trill and Muziqal Tone, and "15:32" with FaroQii MuziQ and DJY Star.Kay.
His 2025 album, "The Next Better Kid," released under the Mculo label, marked a major milestone. The 17-track project featured DJ Stokie, Major League DJz, Felo Le Tee, Djy Vino, and Nkukza SA. Songs like “Jaiva Ka Nje” with Scotts Maphuma and CowBoii, “Size 12 FM,” “Teka,” and “Lashi Boots” strengthened his presence on streaming platforms and in club rotations. He also appeared on “Samba 8” alongside JayJayy and 031 Choppa, further cementing his place in the Sgidongo wave.
Known for blending private school piano elements with heavy rhythmic basslines, ShakaMan YKTV remains active on the festival and club circuit, including appearances on platforms such as Groove Cartel.
