Sfarzo Rtee, whose real name is Rethabile Setwaba, is a South African amapiano DJ and producer born in Polokwane, Limpopo, in 2000. He spent part of his upbringing in Pretoria, where his interest in music took shape early. In 2012, he formed his first musical partnership as part of the duo Sfarzo & DJ OjM, while still learning the foundations of production and DJing. As a teenager, he committed fully to making music, and by the age of 19, he was already gaining national attention after becoming one of the youngest performers invited to Boiler Room Johannesburg.
His official rise began in 2021 with the release of It Was Never the Same, a project that set the tone for his sound and positioned him among amapiano’s emerging producers. He followed this with Amukelani and the House of Sgija series, projects closely associated with the sgija style, a stripped-down, bass-driven approach that focuses on rhythm and atmosphere.
In 2024, The New Testament marked a creative expansion, pulling in Afro-soul and gospel-inspired ideas while maintaining his core identity. The project recorded strong streaming numbers within weeks of release. The following year, he released Rethabile, a personal album named after himself, which debuted at number one on Apple Music charts.
Beyond albums, Sfarzo Rtee has released several successful singles and collaborations, some of which have earned gold and platinum certifications. His work with artists such as De Rose, Jinger Stone, Jazzwrld, Nanette, and DBN Gogo reflects his strong presence within the Amapiano community.
As a live performer, he has appeared at major venues and festivals in South Africa and abroad, including Afro Nation Portugal, and continues to tour internationally. With consistent releases, growing global reach, and a clear creative vision, Sfarzo Rtee stands as one of the defining figures shaping the current direction of amapiano.
