Sasha‑Lee Davids (born 2 September 1990) is a South African singer, songwriter, and television personality whose story is one of faith, family, and musical drive. She was born in Atlantis, a township in the Western Cape of South Africa. She is one of ten children, and her father worked as a pastor. Growing up in a large family instilled in her both a strong sense of responsibility and community values that would shape her later work.
Her musical journey took a major turn when she entered the reality‑TV competition Idols SA (Season 5) in 2009. In an unusual twist, she was initially declared the sole winner, but following a vote recount, she was officially declared co‑winner alongside Jason Hartman.
The breakthrough for Sasha‑Lee came with that Idols victory, which put her into the national spotlight. The song “True Believer” was associated with her finale performance. Her musical style embraces soul, pop, and R&B influences, and she often combines inspiring lyrical themes with accessible melodies.
After Idols, she released her debut album, titled simply "Sasha‑Lee," in 2009. One notable milestone in her career was collaborating with the Grammy-award-winning American group All‑4‑One on the 2019 single “Africa Arise”.
