Sarah Theron is a South African singer, actress, and mentor celebrated for her emotive voice and dedication to the performing arts. At age 14, she began performing professionally, earning money for singing at local events, marking the start of a lifelong connection with music and performance. She later pursued formal training in drama, studying at Stellenbosch University and the Tshwane University of Technology (formerly Pretoria Technikon). In 1989, she received the Frans Marx bursary, recognizing her promise as a drama student.
Theron’s acting career includes notable appearances on stage and screen, most prominently as Baby Botha in the long-running soap opera Egoli, a role that brought her widespread recognition. Alongside acting, she has built a versatile music career, performing extensively across South Africa and collaborating with established artists. She also served as musical director for the Sonja Heroldt tribute concert at Cape Town’s Roxy Revue Bar, highlighting her skill in arranging and directing performances.
In 2009, she participated in the Eurovision World Peace Song Contest with “Dearest Madiba / Briefie vir Madiba,” finishing ninth. Beyond performing, Theron mentors young artists through the ATKV-Crescendo program, offering guidance in vocal technique, stage presence, and performance skills. Critics praise her warm, expressive voice and effortless stage delivery, with her repertoire blending jazz, cabaret, and pop influences.
