Journey
Sandra Reemer, born Barbara Alexandra Reemer in Bandung, Indonesia, moved to the Netherlands during childhood, where her path in entertainment slowly developed across music and television.
Her early recognition came in the 1970s when she teamed up with Dries Holten as Sandra & Andres. The pair represented the Netherlands at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in fourth place with “Als het om de liefde gaat,” which gave her wider visibility in Dutch pop music.
That was just the beginning. She returned to Eurovision twice more, first as a solo performer in 1976 with “The Party’s Over,” and later in 1979 under the name Xandra with “Colorado.” Few Dutch artists have appeared at the contest as often, and her repeated selection reflected her strong standing at the time.
Beyond the stage, she built a long-running television career in the Netherlands, working as a presenter on entertainment programs and becoming a familiar face to audiences over the years.
She remained active across different phases of Dutch media until her passing in 2017 after a long illness, leaving behind a career marked by consistency and visibility across both music and television.
