Projexx is a Jamaican singer, songwriter, and genre-blending recording artist whose work sits between dancehall, Afrobeats, R&B, hip hop, and electronic-influenced sounds.
Born Johni James in Kingston, Jamaica, he comes from a deeply rooted music lineage. His father is producer Lloyd “John John” James, and his grandfather is the legendary dancehall producer Lloyd “King Jammy” James, both influential figures in Jamaican music history. Despite this background, he developed his artistry through a self-directed path, learning by observation and early experimentation with songwriting and production during his youth in Kingston.
Projexx began releasing music in the late 2010s, gradually building recognition with a style that avoids strict genre boundaries. His early work included singles such as "The Vybz" and later projects that showcased his fusion-driven approach.
A breakthrough came with his feature on Wizkid’s “True Love” from the "Made in Lagos" album, a collaboration that introduced his voice to a global audience.
Over time, he expanded his catalogue with solo releases and collaborations with artists such as BEAM, Skillibeng, Blaqbonez, Ruger, and Major Lazer affiliates, while continuing to evolve a sound shaped by both Jamaican dancehall tradition and international influences.
