Journey
Born on June 16, 1990, in Bayelsa, Nigeria, Preye Odede, whose full name is Onyenkepreye Odede, has distinguished himself as a fervent voice in gospel music, seamlessly blending traditional African rhythms with contemporary sounds. He was raised in a large family as the third of seven siblings, where music was an ever-present influence, guiding his spiritual and artistic journey. As a member of Born2Praiz, a five-man acapella group, Preye honed his vocal and songwriting skills early on, which later defined his solo career. In 2011, Preye's solo career took off with the hit single 'BIKO,' which brought him nationwide attention. His debut album 'My Script,' released in 2012, featured the hit "Ebezina (Don't Cry)," a song that resonated deeply within Nigeria, particularly in Port Harcourt, thanks to its message of comfort and resilience. A microbiology graduate from Abia State University, Preye Odede's academic background feeds into his disciplined approach to music. His works encapsulate themes of hope, worship, and gratitude, as seen through spiritual anthems like "Bulie" and "Oshimiri Atata." Preye’s music not only celebrates his Christian beliefs but also pays homage to his Niger Delta roots through its rhythmic diversity and lyrical depth.
