Poetics, born Chandler Sherrill, is an American record producer, songwriter, and recording artist known for creating music across hip-hop, lo-fi, trap, and alternative rap. Since launching his professional career in 2016, he has built an extensive catalog that includes more than 200 officially released productions while also developing a growing body of work as a solo artist.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Poetics later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he refined his production skills and connected with Christian hip-hop artist Canon. The relationship proved influential during his early career, helping him further develop his approach to songwriting and music production. He later relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where he continued expanding both his production portfolio and his solo releases.
Throughout his career, Poetics has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Snøw, Rxseboy, HONNE, KB, Futuristic, Dizzy Wright, Derek Minor, Chris Rivers, Vin Jay, Wande, Canon, and KJ-52. His production style moves comfortably between melodic lo-fi compositions, atmospheric hip-hop, modern trap, and alternative rap, allowing him to work across different musical settings.
His productions have also reached audiences beyond traditional streaming platforms. His music has appeared in HBO's Boomerang, the UK edition of Love Island, NBA 2K21, Xbox promotional campaigns, and media produced for NBA and NFL organizations. In 2019, Rapzilla named him to its Freshman Class, making him only the second producer to receive the recognition. He has also been featured by outlets including Rapzilla, Elevator Magazine, Trackstarz, and ThisIs50, while his 2021 single Narcoleptik premiered on Revolt TV.
Alongside his production work, Poetics has released albums including Burgandy, What Happened Was..., We Made It, Motel Ruffs MMXIX, Death In The Hills, and Space Nexus 3.33, continuing to establish himself as a versatile figure in contemporary hip-hop.
