Journey
Based in the Western Cape, Pieter Johannes Koekemoer better known as Pieter Mohr, is a prominent South African singer-songwriter and full-time recording artist who has spent more than a decade carving out a distinct space within the contemporary Afrikaans and country-pop music landscapes. Known for his accessible melodies and narrative songwriting, Mohr effortlessly weaves traditional country and folk frameworks with modern Afrikaans pop elements to explore themes of personal experience and rural life.
His career reached a major turning point in 2013 with the launch of his debut studio album. The project featured the infectious breakout track "Blikskottel," which quickly became a fan favorite and garnered widespread media exposure on digital platforms and kykNET television networks. Looking to expand his artistic boundaries, Mohr later joined forces with legendary country musician Fredi Nest to record "Cowboys in Duo," a special collaborative album completed shortly before Nest’s untimely passing.
Mohr further solidified his standing in the local music industry with the release of "Welkom in my wêreld." Produced by the acclaimed Dennis East, the album spotlighted his growth as an original composer and featured high-profile vocal team-ups with respected industry figures Bobby Angel and Manie Jackson. Remaining a highly active and sought-after entertainer on the live circuit, Pieter Mohr regularly travels across South Africa and neighboring territories, bringing his storytelling-driven compositions to regional music festivals, community events, and televised showcases.
