Zibokwakhe Johnstone Mnyandu, also known as Phuzekhemisi or "Drink the medicine," is a renowned South African musical activist for peace and pioneer of the Zulu-traditional music genre known as maskandi.
His debut album, "Imbizo" in collaboration with his brother Khetahni, fusing maskandi and township jive, sold over 100,000 copies and achieved double-platinum status.
He has been twice nominated for a Kora award and performed as a special guest at the closing ceremony of the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan/Korea, solidifying his reputation as a credible ambassador for South African folk music while remaining rooted in his indigenous music style.
Throughout his career, Phuzekhemisi has released over 20 albums with several hit songs.
