Born in Mbabane, Eswatini, in 1996, Makhosazana Thwala developed an early interest in rap writing during her teenage years. She first performed under the name Kay T before adopting OriiginElle, a stage identity built to reflect layered selfhood, with a stylised spelling that signals multiplicity and a feminine suffix drawn from French. Her early work mixed English and siSwati, drawing from everyday life and cultural memory, with early releases such as "Emadloti" introducing her voice to local audiences.
Recognition grew in 2016 when she received Best Female Artist at the Swaziland Hip Hop Awards, a moment that widened her visibility. That same period included appearances at major platforms such as Hipnotik Festival in Eswatini, MTV Base’s Yo! MTV Raps Africa, and a support slot for Rick Ross during a New Year’s Eve show in Botswana.
