Journey
Ntokozo Mbambo grew up in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, where her connection to music started in church during childhood. Those early years built discipline and a strong foundation that carried into her professional career.
Her first major step into the public space came at the age of 15 when she joined Joyous Celebration. Being part of the group exposed her to structured live recordings, touring, and large audiences, helping her develop stage experience early on.
She moved into solo work with the release of "Bambelela" in 2001, marking the beginning of a long-running recording career. Over time, she released projects such as "Filled," "Spirit and Life," "Moments in Time," and "Lavish Worship." Among these, "Filled" achieved multi-platinum status in South Africa.
Her catalogue has earned recognition through multiple awards, including South African Music Awards, Crown Gospel Music Awards, and African Gospel Music and Media Awards. Alongside recording, she has contributed to talent development through television, appearing as a judge on I Want to Sing Gospel and taking part in Idols South Africa.
Her career also includes international touring and collaborations with gospel artists outside South Africa, extending her reach beyond local audiences. She is married to Nqubeko Mbatha, and the two have worked together on several music projects.
Across her career, she remains active in both recorded music and live worship settings, balancing performance, mentorship, and ongoing releases within the gospel space.
